Chief Development Officer
Joining the Champions for Kids team in April 2014, Jim Evans has brought a unique skill set to the Chief Development Officer position. As a veteran of three different industries, his talents are well suited to developing strategies in the retail space as well as the traditional non-profit development model.
Prior to joining Champions for Kids, Evans career path began in live theater, film and television production where he spent more than 20 years working on shows such as Twister and Touched by an Angel. In this role he developed his ability to manage teams, adapt to rapid change and craft stories relevant to the audience. After relocating to Northwest Arkansas, Evans' experience translated into executing promotions and events for Walmart, Sam's Club and their vendors. It was during this time he successfully managed one of the largest multi-vendor promotional programs ever executed in Walmart.
Evans career direction changed once again when an opportunity arose in Jinja, Uganda, allowing him to follow his heart into the non-profit sector. As a Major and Planned Giving Officer at John Brown University, his work focused on annual funding, major gifts, and estate and planned giving. Within his first two years of being on staff, he more than doubled personal fundraising goals and was consistently recognized as an innovator, strategist and exceptional solicitor.
Evans earned his bachelor’s degree in Communications from Oklahoma Baptist University and his Masters in Performing Arts from Oklahoma City University. He and his wife, Sarah, along with their daughter Marlow, call Siloam Springs, Ark. home. An avid outdoorsman, Evans can often be found fishing, hunting, camping or even out for a really high scoring round of golf.
