Help kids thrive in your community!
We’ve all experienced the joy that comes from being transported to a different world by a great book. Not only is reading fun—it also helps kids become more imaginative, develop their language skills, learn about their world, and even perform better in school! Yet in many homes, age-appropriate books are a luxury that parents can’t afford.
What if you could give kids the fuel they need to do their best?
It’s this SIMPLE!
1. GATHER your family, friends, and neighbors for a story time party. You could read cherished children’s books, ask a local author to read from his or her work, or even let your kids tell or read stories they’ve created! Ask each guest to bring children’s books to donate. Consider giving a prize to the person who brings the most books!
2. LEARN about literacy initiatives in your community and ways you can help. Did you know that building reading into kids’ schedules and regularly bringing additional books into the home for children positively impact kids’ reading frequency? How can you share your time and resources to make sure that all children have access to great books?
3. GIVE the books you collect to a local teacher, social worker, or community organization to help fuel the imaginations of children in need. You can also get a FREE Scholastic BOOK by purchasing a specially marked box of Kellogg’s products at Walmart, get one Kellogg’s Family Rewards™ code from inside the box, Enter the code at www.FreeBookOffer.com and choose your FREE BOOK or donate it to the school of your choice.
4. SHARE your project at championsforkids.org/share. How many people were involved, and how many items did you collect? Please let us know that you are one of millions who are helping give kids the resources they need to thrive!
