Make the holidays brighter for kids in your community!
The winter holidays should be a time of family togetherness and sharing of gifts, but they can be especially challenging for families in poverty, who have difficulty meeting basic needs. They can also be emotionally difficult for over 400,000 American children who live in foster care in the United States. Will you help make the holidays brighter for these kids?
It’s this SIMPLE!
1. GATHER your friends, family, coworkers—even your church or neighborhood!—for a Stocking Stuffer Challenge. Ask guests to bring appropriate items (such as hygiene and personal care items, healthy snacks, socks and gloves, and small gifts) to place in stockings for children in need.
2. LEARN about the organizations that help kids in need in your community. How can you support their work now and throughout the year?
3. GIVE the stockings to a community advocate or local charity for children.
4. SHARE your story at championsforkids.org/share by Monday, December 22, 2014. Let us know how many people were involved, how many items you collected, and how many children your project helped. The top ten projects from within the State of Arkansas that bring in the most donated items for kids will win $1,000 each for a school or youth organization of their choice.
