Help kids thrive in your community!
When kids return to school this January, many of them will lack the resources they need to thrive. Did you know that last year, teachers spent a combined $1.2 billion of their own money on classroom supplies? Why not give a child the school supplies that will help her succeed, easing the financial burden on teachers and freeing students to focus on learning?
It’s this SIMPLE!
1. GATHER your family, friends, and neighbors for a Thrive Drive! Ask people to bring school and classroom supplies such as paper, markers, and boxes of tissues to donate. You could pick up a few of the same supplies you're already buying for your kids' return to school, or ask local teachers what kinds of supplies they need most.
2. LEARN about the issues affecting your local schools. You could even make a plan to donate or volunteer regularly!
3. GIVE the items you collect to a teacher, school administrator, or after-school program in your community.
4. SHARE your story at championsforkids.org/share. Let us know how many people were involved and how many items you collected. Thank you for helping us reach our goal of mobilizing 20 million people by 2020 to become Champions for Kids!
